Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF)

Helen Clark serves as a Patron of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF), an international organisation established in 1995 to promote and strengthen democratic local government across the Commonwealth in support of sustainable development. CLGF brings together local authorities, government ministries, and professional partners from more than 40 countries, advocating for greater empowerment at the local level while advancing good governance and effective public services. Through research, technical programmes, global events, and knowledge exchange, the Forum works with partners including The Commonwealth, the United Nations, and the European Union to ensure local government plays a central role in development and democratic decision-making.
